    So this from the description a 2 year old episode and was broadcast 6/14/24. Still relevant. Unfortunately the episode looked like a commercial for cops at best and propaganda at worst. Didn't seem like hard questions were asked. Seemed almost rehearsed. Very little about how to actually bridge the trust canyon, how the police culture is being changed. One actually said there is an attempt to move out of a warrior mentality. Also disappointed to see no devils advocate to press issues like lack of respect of basic constitutional rights, lack of accountability or if these "programs" weed out those who may or will become liabilities and/a danger the public.

    I understand that people wish to age in place. I'm 73 and sincerely hope that I too can stay in my condo. However what really bothers me about this is that the government and social agencies want to hand-off more and more of their responsibilities. Think about when the State Hospital shut down and the government transferred the costs and responsibilities of those with physical or mental disabilities over to the family and no longer took any responsibility. This is when the homeless population began....

    My great aunt was a patient there. I believe she had polio as a baby because she had a little underdeveloped arm and then epilepsy, and as my great-grandparents became older they just couldn't take care of her anymore and this seemed to be the only/best solution. I think it was the available "assisted living" of the day for the mentally unwell. I remember visiting her there once when I was very young. I hope there were some nice people there taking care of her. She went intermittently initially as a respite for her parents. Medicine has progressed, but I think at the time medical providers for the most part really wanted to help and were doing the best they could with the knowledge they had at the time.

    My 83 year old mom is being currently abused psychologically by a sibling. She's being threatened heavily coerced and harassed She was told not to come to hospital to say goodbye to a dying son and told she wasn't invited to her son's funeral. Mom took about 10 people from. church to stand around her and mob protect mom to get to her into her son's funeral. One of my siblings have Narcisstic tendencies and is extremely controlling my mom and emotionally making her blood pressure fluxuate and making her depressed. Moms Union county of A PS laugh at moms case and think mom should just give up her house simply because of age despite she still runs a business there and is in her right mind per her doctor. 2 lawyers have said my sibling is breaking the law but everyone wants big money to help mom. The police want paperwork a no contact order but mom needs help to fill out without a 500 to 2,000 dollar lawyer. Psychological abuse is killing my mom and moms social worker doesn't care she has no bruises or bedsores from her psychological abuse. Disappointed in the NC elder abuse system. My mom high functioning. Moms in Union county and I contacted her senator and they sent a letter to me saying she doesn't qualify for help since it's psychological. Somebody let my mom keep her house and stop my sibling from intimidating and threatening her. Who can help?

    It takes a full circle for us to figure out that a family (grandparents, parents, and kids) was meant to live together because there is a role for each member of that family. When people move away, that role is broken or disappears, and all members of that family will suffer the consequences (financially and emotionally) of that... The elderly have a role to play if they are put in the "right" places.

    Them kids were up there a lonnnnng long time. I know the child labor laws are lax in hillbilly country but sheesh. My kids stay grounded as punishment for shorter periods. OH! And it's clearly not a union gig. They'd at least be entitled to a break...and lunch. Lunch during break is not the same thing. You're not allowed to combine all breaks into one tiny break. All that said? It's a genius business model and are to be commended as a job creator in the Kim Jong Un sorta vibe. I applaud your business savvy...lol Capitalism baby! Ya gotta love it.

    Amber hit me in the accident. Put me in a wheelchair. I broke 25 bones, internal bleeding, lung collapsed,etc. I don't feel sorry for these people. I had 3 children that were the same ages of Amber's children, 6 yr old twins and a 3 year old. I've never gotten an apology even though I reached out after the accident and wrote amber a letter in jail saying I was sorry for the loss of her baby girl. As a mom I had tremendous survivors guilt. My family has been through so much as a result of this accident. I could no longer work. My youngest child doesn't even remember me outside of a wheelchair. While I do believe in recovery because I have real life experience in drug addiction, I also believe in taking accountability! This is coming from someone who lost her sister from an od last year.. there's so much more I could say. It just really kills me that I've never heard I'm sorry and probably never will.

    The elephant in the room is that the kids have become so unruly, disrespectful and violent that no one can teach successfully. The schools won’t put kids in detention, won’t expel them, and don’t expect the kids to do homework. Principals don’t allow teachers to fail kids who turn nothing in because a low graduation or failure rate affects their federal funding.Even the parents are failing miserably, or many of them. They expect teachers to parent and “fix” their kid; they don’t sit down and do homework if needed; they have drug, alcohol and social problems themselves. The culture is rotted and until we right that, things will get worse.

    • @laglendareed8086
      @laglendareed8086 Месяц назад

      And this is what the teachers are talking about but no one talks about opening an alternative school for disrespectful and violent students. They should not be put in the regular and special ed classrooms. Some of these students are already in the justice system and come to school with ankle bracelets on and are using drugs. These students should be in another school setting. The schools system will just send them away for a short time and put them right back in the classroom to repeat the same behavior. The teachers feel like it is not worth the pay because we cannot father these kids and we are not counselors that deal with emotional behaviors and trauma, Also the parents need counseling for the entire family and parenting classes at the early childhood level. They wait until middle school age when it is too late to discipline a child who get rewarded with cell phones and other trinkets as a reward. It sucks. Covid-19 has nothing to do with failing students they were failing before the pandemic.
